What will I need to bring with me to my appointment?
Please bring your insurance card(s), a list of prescriptions you are currently taking, and any medical records or outside radiology studies pertaining to your consultation.
How soon can I schedule my surgery after having a consultation with a surgeon?
Depending on the urgency, surgery can typically be scheduled within two weeks or sooner if needed. If you have a particular date in mind, please be sure and let your surgeon know this during your consultation.
Will my surgical procedure be performed in the office or at the hospital?
Most procedures are performed in a hospital setting with the exception of minor procedures such as small lipomas, lesions and cysts.
Will my procedure require a hospital stay?
Most procedures are outpatient.
Am I having my surgery on my first appointment?
Your first appointment is typically a consultation only. If you have a small lesion, we may remove it in the office the day of your appointment. Otherwise, we will see you in consultation and then schedule your surgery.
Why must I provide you with the same information I’ve already given the hospital or another physician’s office?
We are a separate office and don’t have access to information you provided to the hospital or other offices. We apologize for the inconvenience, but must ask you to provide us with accurate and up-to-date information.
Will I be required to pay any money prior to surgery?
Possibly, depending on your insurance. We do collect deductibles up front prior to all surgery. If you do not have insurance we will set up a financial agreement with you.
Do I need to contact my insurance company for pre-certification or authorization for my surgery?
No, after your surgery is scheduled our office will call to get the authorization or pre-certification for your surgery.
What will my recovery time be after surgery and will I be out of work?
It could range anywhere from 1 day to 6 weeks, however it depends on the type of procedure you have done. Please ask your nurse or surgeon at your consultation.
What types of surgeries do your surgeons perform?
We offer many types of services ranging from simple procedures that can be done in the office to more complex procedures that are done in a hospital operating room.
Do your surgeons normally run on time?
We do everything we can to stay on schedule, but this is not always possible. We treat each and every patient with respect and try to answer all questions before they leave our office. If we are running behind, it is probably due to an emergency case either in the office or in the hospital. We do everything we can to get back on schedule and keep your wait as short and comfortable as possible.
If I need my bandage changed, do I need an appointment?
You do not need an appointment. We recommend you call the office to make sure we are running on schedule. If so, we prefer that you come between 9:00am and 11:00am or 1:00pm and 3:30pm to see a nurse.
How do I get refills on medication?
If we prescribed the medication, you may call our office and select the nurse line to request this. You need to have your pharmacy name and phone number available and you may be asked to leave a message. There are certain types of medications that we cannot refill by phone, in which case we will provide a written prescription that can be picked up during our office hours.
How do I get a copy of my medical records?
Call the office and request your records and a copy will be available for pick up with-in 48 hrs. You, the patient are the only one who can get your records unless you sign a medical information release form for someone else to receive your information.
Can my wife or children have access to my medical record or insurance information?
A HIPPA waiver giving a person authorization to obtain records can give a specified person access to your records.
If I need forms filled out by your office, how long will this take to be completed?
It takes 5-7 business days for your forms to be completed.
